CELEBRATING 43 YEARS OF SERVICE TO SAULT STE. MARIE

Before we send you on your journey through our web pages, where you will learn about not only Kiwanis but about our Club and it’s members, we would like to take this opportunity to speak about a special project that we are currently undertaking.

On each and every page of our web site you will see two logos. On the top “We Build” and on the bottom “Serving the Children of the World”. These logos are those of Kiwanis International and those that each Kiwanis Club, all 8,445 in 89 nations and geographic areas believe in.

We here at Lakeshore have with these other clubs, from around the globe, pooled resources and have made magical differences to children. Indeed, we as Kiwanians “Serve” and “Build”.

Lakeshore Kiwanis takes great pride in it’s commitment to both logos. We have done our share to enhance the riches of children worldwide and now that commitment, “We Build” and “Serving Children”, are no better served than right here in Sault Ste. Marie.

Thank you for this opportunity to share with you some exciting news about a Lakeshore Kiwanis project. Camp Wakonda is being rebuilt and we want you to have an opportunity to be a part of it. Our Kiwanis Club has committed its recourses to this project and is asking for some help from the community to assist us. Built over 50 years ago, the main lodge at Camp Wakonda, on beautiful McCarrel Lake, is scheduled to be demolished and rebuilt in the spring of 2003. This project is estimated to cost in excess of $180,000. This is a major commitment for any organization and especially a service club, given these uncertain times related to fundraising. YOU CAN HELP US REBUILD THE LODGE How will it be paid for?
